This is a pre-release ashcan edition of Curt Pires and Jok’s new Image series, with lettering by Micah Myers and a Flops cover. It came out ahead of the regular #1, which arrives December 2026. The setup: in 1999 time broke, the Calamity Creatures arrived, and creature battling became a cutthroat professional sport. Former teen champion Dusty Gotem comes out of 17 years in hiding to win the title again and pay his mother’s medical bills. It’s a satirical, ultraviolent take on ’90s creature-battling, sometimes pitched as “Pokémon meets The Boys.”
